San Javier XIV Internacional Jazz Festival

The International Jazz Festival of San Javier began in 1998 and has been achieving year after year on their agenda to great jazz figures with which to play music at night on weekends in June and July.

The 14th edition of the International Jazz Festival of San Javier will be dedicated to the memory of Gary Moore and Solomon Burke and focus on San Javier, between June 25 and July 30, some of the best musicians in jazz and blues world. The return of the legendary pianist Ramsey Lewis, the first concert in Spain jazz-rock supergroup Chicago; the return of Eric Burdon & The Animals, and the presence of one of the most prestigious big bands in the world, Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra, will be among the great attractions is likely to be one of the brightest festival editions.

Other jazz greats as pianist Monty Alexander Jamaican, guitarist Lee Ritenour California, or another guitarist John Scofield, give way to younger players who already have world-class Japanese pianist Hiromi as his new trio with the Danish pianist Niels Lan Doky, or the new star of the accordion, the Frenchman Ludovic Beier. Among the extensive European presence in this year’s Festival highlights, as always, the Spanish jazz with the group’s pianist drom Cadiz Sergio Monroy, Mallorcan guitarist’s trio with violinist Biel Ballester Costel Nitescu guest, the trio of pianist Albert Bover Catalan with singer Carla Cook and the quartet of pianist Jaume Vilaseca also the Indian sitar player Ravi Chary.

Other prominent figures are singer Rene Marie, the grande dame of the bossa nova Leny Andrade, the Mexican singer Lila Downs, or the French Pink Turtle.

The blues and rock will have great prominence, as one would expect in an edition dedicated to Gary Moore, and so, besides the aforementioned Chicago and Eric Burdon, announcing the visit of Elvin Bishop, Lucky Peterson, Albert Lee & Hoogans’ Heroes and veteran singer Chris Farlowe Briton with the Norman Beaker Band, not to mention the prestigious San Francisco bluesman Joe Louis Walker.

One edition, therefore, with concerts that will satisfy the most diverse tastes and that remains true to the pricing policy Popular festival tickets and passes to facilitate public access to that temple of jazz and blues is the auditorium of the Park Almansa.

In addition, most of the concerts can be enjoyed by fans all over Spain thanks to the collaboration with Spanish Television Festival, Radio 3 and 7 Murcia.
